8/7/2009

A new plant to manufacture dis-continous PUF panels with camlocks for cold storages, clean rooms and telecom shelters was inaugurated in Chakan, near Pune on 27th April 2009. The new company is a JV between Roots Cooling Systems Pvt Ltd of Delhi, the largest design-build or specs contractor and manufacturer of ventilation systems in India and KIDE, a Spanish company specializing in cold storage panel manufacturing technology that has been in production since 1971.

The Spanish partner is a part of the Mondragon Corporation Cooperativa, a unique organization, which began its activities in 1956 in the Basque town of Mondragon. It is the largest successful industrial cooperative in the world, with over 260 companies committed to the creation of greater social wealth through customer satisfaction, job creation, the promotion of education and respect for the environment. The 260 companies employ 100,000 people worldwide and generate $ 20 billion in annual revenue. Mondragon has production plants spread out in 4 continents with over 80 manufacturing subsidiaries outside Spain.

RCS-Kide will also distribute in India refrigeration equipment, presently being manufactured by a Kide facility in China. This equipment will be initially imported and as volumes grow, will be manufactured in India. The present facility is 1500m2 area and is of a temporary nature and will eventually shift to a much bigger permanent factory on a 10 acre plot of land at Andori, near Pune with an investment of Rs 20 crores. This plot will be part of a 70 acre Mondragon Park which will also house other JV manufacturing facilities of the Group in India. .
