Daikin Airconditioning India Pvt. Ltd. (DAIPL), a fully owned subsidiary of Daikin Industries Ltd. , Japan, has its manufacturing facility at Neemrana in Rajasthan. A highlight of the facility is the Air Conditioning Technology Development Centre (ACDC), which carries out the training of DAIPL staff as well as channel partners. Kanwal Jeet Jawa, the MD of DAIPL, believes in thought leadership, innovation, technology and , mostofall , courageous leadership. According to Jawa , ACDC was built with the objective of imparting skill and knowledge amongst technicians engaged in the HVAC industry across India. “We operate training batches for dealers, employees and technicians at ACDC on subjects critical to HVAC developments”, says Jawa. “At Daikin, we are committed to enhancing skills across all levels. We have been investing in developing the skill index for all our employees and dealers since 2010, by operating various programs at ACDC. We are looking to partner with various organisations to develop the curriculum with a view to impart relevant HVAC knowledge to students. Furthermore, Daikin is supporting various educational institutions by sponsoring or helping them build air conditioning labs where students can learn more about the HVAC domain.” IN THE NEWS ACDC houses 3 lecture rooms where domain experts from the head office at Gurgaon take classroom sessions. In addition, it has four practice rooms where trainees acquire hands-on experience – one for room air conditioners and packaged units; the second for towers and cassettes; the third for chillers, containing cut sections; and the last for VRVs that houses a VRVIV coupled with a cassette, a ductable and a ceiling concealed unit. There is a brazing room for training sessions on safe brazing practices using goggles, gloves and shoes. The first floor of ACDC contains  accommodation for batches of trainees and the trainers.
