A Memorandum of Understanding was signed between ISHRAE and International Copper Association India (ICAI) on the ISHRAE initiative ‘Research-in-ISHRAE’, to carry out research in ‘Modeling and validation of corrosion, fouling and scaling in air-cooled condensers and effect of prognostic maintenance’. Air cooled condensers undergo
deterioration in capacity over time due to erosion and fouling. Neither designers nor operators have a tool to assess the life of designed equipment or assess the performance of existing equipment. Hence the need was felt to go for this project, which is of interest to the HVAC&R Industry and has a bearing on improved performance and reduced life cycle cost.
