Kirloskar Joins International Thermo Nuclear Reactor Project

Kirloskar Chillers has been selected as a part of the International Thermonuclear Experimental Reactor (ITER) Project, a joint project of 7 countries at Cadarche, France. The project objective is to demonstrate the scientific and technological feasibility of fusion energy for peaceful purposes. The seven partners are China, European Union, India, Japan, South Korea, Russia and the USA. ITER International Organization (ITER-IO) comprises engineers and scientists from all the seven countries. ITERIndia will contribute the Component Cooling Water System (CCWS), Chilled Water System (CHWS) and Heat Rejection System (HRS) to the project. ITER-India awarded the design, construction and project management to Larsen & Toubro Construction, Chennai who in turn has placed the order for the chillers to Kirloskar Chillers, after technically evaluating several global manufacturers. Kirloskar Chillers has already supplied 4x1137 TR (4000 kW) water-cooled centrifugal chillers, designed in accordance with global standards, CE marked and seismically qualified. These are the largest chillers ever built in India. The remaining 4 chillers are scheduled for supply by end 2017.
