Dear Member, Greetings from ISHRAE Mumbai Chapter!! Gone are days of DOL or Start Delta Starter for AHU Motor Control. VFD's ( Variable Frequency Drives ) have replaced them in most application and for good reason. VFD not only provide us with benefit of soft start, the dynamic speed control, provides optimum operation enhancing the system performance and energy saving. VFD's bring their own set of challenges. It is important that we understand the functions of VFD, applications where we can use them, its selection criteria, effects of Harmonics that they generate, strategies to mitigate harmonics, requirement of VFD compatible motors. This are issues that we would like to discuss in the technical forum. The program will have brief presentation on the VFD's, its application and limitations by Mr. Gaurav Raut. Further on, it would be an open forum discussion, sharing our experience and use of VFD's.
