ISHRAE IEQ Standard: 10001-2019 – Public Comment

We all know the importance of four basic elements of Indoor Environment Quality (IEQ), namely, Thermal Comfort, Indoor Air Quality, Visual Comfort and Acoustic comfort. These, definitely, affect human health of building occupants besides having significant impact on their productivity and cognitive ability.

ISHRAE, in the year 2016 had released the first of its kind, ISHRAE IEQ Standard: 10001-2016; defining three levels for various parameters, relevant to Indian context as well as matching global levels of IEQ at the same time. Many organizations including green building rating agencies positively responded to the release of this standard and adopted its recommendations in the design practices and evaluation methods for quality of IEQ.

Based upon the experience of implementing first version of IEQ Standard, feedback from various stakeholders, and following global best practices for keeping any standard updated with technological and market developments, a new committee was set up for reviewing and modifying the standard.

On behalf of ISHRAE and on behalf of the IEQ Standard committee, it is my privilege to share the Draft ISHRAE IEQ Standard: 10001-2019 (second edition of the standard) with you. You are requested to kindly review the draft and suggest modifications/changes in the same for its improvement.

Please note that comments are to be submitted ONLY IN THE PRESCRIBED TEMPLATE, and latest by APRIL 30, 2019, i.e. upto 60 days from the release of draft for comments.
