ARCON 2017 Focuses on Safety in Ammonia Systems

Association of Ammonia Refrigeration (AAR) held its annual seminar, ARCON 2017, at Hotel Ramada, Navi Mumbai on January 21. It was supported by ISHRAE Mumbai Chapter. Over 200 delegates attended the program. An exhibition was organised on the sidelines. While welcoming the delegates, P. Sudhir Kumar (Chairman, ARCON 2017) highlighted the increasing recognition of the role that ammonia is playing as the refrigerant of choice for commercial refrigeration systems. Anand Joshi, AAR President, traced the success story of the organisation and charted its roadmap. The Chief Guest was Manoj Kumar Singh, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change. In his keynote address, he presented the Indian perspective on climate change and the Montreal Protocol. The speakers were Heinz Jackmann (Guntner GmbH, Germany) and Alexander Kohl Pachai (Johnson Controls, Denmark). There were product presentations by Evapco, Thermofin, Kirloskar Pneumatic, WXR and GEA. A panel discussion on Ammonia – the Refrigerant of Choice, was moderated by Ramesh Paranjpey and had Sanjay Phadke, Nihkil Raj, Haresh Rupchandani and Anish Simha as the panellists. Another panel discussion on Emergency Response and Mitigation was moderated by Anil Gulanikar and had D. S. Reddy, Mangesh Vanjpaye and Hiroyuki Egashiro as the panellists. A highlight of the event was felicitation of industry veterans. Ramesh Paranjpey, Vasudev Deshpande, D. R. Riswadkar, Shamlal Chawla, Mintler Raj and R. S. Tata were the veterans to be felicitated for their long and valuable contribution to the refrigeration
industry.
