Bitzer Acquires Alfa Laval’s Shell-and-Tube Heat Exchanger Product Group

Bitzer has acquired the shell-and-tube heat exchanger segment of Alfa Laval SpA based in Alonte, Northern Italy. This makes Bitzer the largest independent manufacturer in the shell-and-tube heat exchanger market worldwide. The products taken over from Alfa Laval are designed for air conditioning and refrigeration applications. Bitzer has been producing condensers for fresh- and sea-water applications since the 1950s. Bitzer is the world’s largest independent manufacturer of refrigeration compressors. Based in Sindelfingen near Stuttgart, Germany, the company also manufactures heat exchangers and pressure vessels in its factories in Germany, the US and Australia.
Based in Lund, Sweden, the Swedish Alfa Laval manufactures products for material separation and heat transfer. It operates in some 100 countries with around 16,400 employees.
