Danfoss Confirms Qualification Plans with Lower-GWP Refrigerants by Q1 2016
20 June 2016

Danfoss is finalizing the qualification plans for alternative low GWP refrigerants. The plans are structured in 3 steps: analysis of compressor and unit performance, compressor and system reliability and final validation.
Air Conditioning
• Fixed-speed scrolls: The new R410A based DSH and DCJ scroll compressors with IDVs, which will be released in 2016, are being tested with the high density R454B (DR5A), DR55 and R32 as alternatives to R410A.
• Inverter scrolls: VZH will be made available to operate with the same alternatives as scrolls with IDVs.
• Turbocor compressors: In 2013, the company launched the Danfoss Turbocor TG310, the first centrifugal compressor that operates with the ultra-low GWP refrigerant HFO- 1234ze. In 2016, it plans to expand the TG product range for ultra-low GWP from 60Tons (220kW) to 145Tons (500kW).

Refrigeration
• Light commercial refrigeration: A lot of Danfoss compressors are already available for use with the A3 refrigerant R290 and A2L refrigerant R1234yf. However, to overcome the charge limit for A3 refrigerants, both the A1 blends R449A and R452A are undergoing qualification tests.
• Maneurop reciprocatings: These HBP/MBP compressors have already been qualified for the mid-term solution of R-407A and R-407F, but will now be expanded to include R-452A.
• Scrolls: MLZ and LLZ will be qualifi ed for both R448A and R449A. Additionally, these platforms will be fully qualified for R452A blend.
• Optyma™ condensing unit: The CUs will be made available with the same refrigerants as the compressors.
