ICE 2015 Held at Chandigarh

The 7th annual India Cold Chain Expo, ICE 2015, was held by GCCA India at Park Zirakpur near Chandigarh on November 17- 18. The support partners were Association of Ammonia Refrigeration (AAR), All India Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Association (AIACRA), Federation of All India Cold Storage Associations (FAICSA), Global Cold Chain Alliance (GCCA), International Association for Cold Storage Construction (IACSC), International Association of Refrigerated Warehouses (IARW), International Refrigerated Transportation Association (IRTA), i2i Consulting, Jalandhar Potato Grower’s Association (JPGA), Ministry of Agriculture, National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD), National Centre for Cold-Chain Development (NCCD), National Horticulture Board (NHB), National Institute of Food Technology Entrepreneurship & Management (NIFTEM), World Food Logistics Organization (WFLO), US Commercial Service, US Department of Agriculture (USDA), and Virginia Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services. Danfoss was the ICE Awards partner. NCCD Conference was a part of the event. USA was the partner country. The inaugural session of NCCD Conference was addressed by Atul Khanna (Director, GCCA India), Richard Tracy (Vice President, GCCA), Gregory Brendt (Chairman, WFLO), Paul Frost (Commercial Officer, US Embassy), Ravichandran Purushothaman (President, Danfoss India), Mahendra Swarup (President, FAICSA), Todd P. Haymore (Secretary of Agriculture and Forestry, Virginia, USA - Guest of Honour), and Pawanexh Kohli (Chief Advisor, NCCD - Chief Guest). Devna Khanna (Director, ICE Centre of Excellence) proposed the vote of thanks. After the inaugural session, Mahendra Swarup cut the ribbon symbolising the opening of the exhibition. The first session of the Conference was on ‘Enabling Innovation, Integration, Education and Investments Across the Food Value Chain’. It was addressed by Arvind Surange (ACR Project Consultants), M. S. Manjunath (Ingersoll Rand), Lloyd Sanford (Top Blue Supply Chains), Colonel Kamal Singh Sodhi (Agricultural Skill Council of India), Gregory Brendt (WFLO), Harshal Surange (ACR Project Consultants) and Vivek Pandey (Ecozen Solutions). The second session was on ‘Leverage International Technologies & Trends to Deliver Value Today, Tomorrow and Into the Future’. It was addressed by Richard Tracy (GCCA), Carsten Dahlgaard (Danfoss), Eric Prieur (Carrier Transicold), Soji Abraham (Rinac), Nilesh Naik (Dorin), Himanshu Sheth (Alfa Laval) and S. S. Swamy (TESSOL). There was a panel discussion on ‘Opportunities, Challenges & Expectations of Retail from Cold Chain Industry’ in which Sumit Saran (Future Consumer Enterprise), Ashok Kumar (Metro Cash & Carry) and Manav Suri (Suri Agrofresh) participated. The final session saw an interaction with the government. Danfoss ICE Awards were conferred during the networking event in the evening. Royale Marine Impex received the Best Food Processing Facility Award for using the most energy efficient technology like flake ice machine and energy efficient compressors in their cold storage. The Best Maintained Cold Storage Award went to Mother Dairy and Suri Agrofresh. Progressive Service Provider Award was conferred on Coldstar Logistics. Progressive Association Award went to Cold Storage Association of Uttar Pradesh. Sukhjit Singh Bhatti of Bhatti Agritech won the Progressive Farmer’s Award.GenX Award went to Abhimanyu Narang of Narang Group and Senthil Natarajan of Kovai Pazhamudir. Dynamic Leadership Award was given to Ashok Mirchandani of Carrier Transicold.
