ISHRAE Shapes Industry Standards
08 January 2016

The joint efforts of ISHRAE and Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Manufacturers’ Association (RAMA) had resulted in a Testing and Rating Standard for Chillers last year. This has been adopted as an Indian Standard by Bureau of Indian Standards. The BIS publication will soon be available to public.
ISHRAE and RAMA have now embarked on establishing a standard for Variable Refrigerant Flow (VRF) systems. This is a vital area since VRF Systems are becoming a major industry segment. Preliminary meetings with manufacturers and experts in the field have begun. It is hoped that
this new standard will be brought out by March 2016. After releasing its Position Paper on Indoor Environmental Quality, ISHRAE’s IEQ Committee is now working on an IEQ Standard. The Refrigerants Committee has published its Position Paper. ISHRAE is well represented on the BIS  Committee working on the revision of National Building Code (Section on HVAC). ISHRAE was requested to review and submit the clause relating to Refrigerants.
