Inverter ACs Brought Under the Ambit of Energy Labelling
15 November 2015

Bureau of Energy Effi ciency (BEE) has brought inverter ACs under the ambit of energy labelling for the first time from June 29. This is an important development in the journey of Indian air conditioner industry towards energy efficiency. A new table has been introduced for inverter ACs with SEER
as the parameter. It will be voluntary till December 2017, after which it will be mandatory and will converge with the table for fixed-speed ACs, adopting Cooling Seasonal Performance Factor (CSPF) as the common parameter for star rating instead of Energy Efficiency Ration (EER). The current one- and two-star ratings for RACs would be abolished; three-star would be re-rated one-star, and so on. The new four- and five-star ratings will cover inverter ACs. The following table gives the voluntary energy rating parameters valid till 2017.
