London’s Deep Line Tube trains to Finally Get Air Conditioning
20 June 2016

London Mayor Boris Johnson has pledged that the city’s underground ‘Tube’ trains will get air conditioning after years of public clamour. He said that engineers have cracked how to cool even the lines that go deepest underground. Transport for London, which administers London’s transportation
network, confirmed that 250 new trains with air-cooling systems would be introduced on low-lying lines beginning around 2020. Highs of nearly 35°C (95°F) have been recorded on the Central line in recent summers — well above the 30°C (86°F) maximum allowed limit for transporting cattle.
