Amtrac Solutions Brings Products for Food Safety, Energy Efficiency and IAQ
29 May 2018

The Indian market is witnessing major growth opportunity for differentiated technology. The main areas where significant improvements have been made are food safety, energy efficiency and indoor air quality.

Food Safety
The best-in-class solutions for food safety are Real-time Monitoring and Management Systems (RMMS), which allow a secured two-way communication between the user and the instrument from anywhere in the world using a computer or smart device with a 3G/data network or an internet connection. These controllers feature built-in standalone data monitoring as well as affordable remote monitoring and management via PC or smartphone using a free proprietary software. In standalone mode, users can download the last 120 days of historical data from the controller’s memory, which includes all temperature data as well as compressor on/off , fan on/off , defrost on/off , door open/close and alarm events with date and time stamp to identify the root cause of potential malfunctions. The same controller can also be used anytime for live bi-directional remote monitoring and management by adding an inexpensive interface at the project site. The two-way communication between the user and the controller provides the ability to view/change the parameter settings, initiate defrost, etc. from a smartphone or remote PC after the user has received an email/SMS alert.

With access to data from the controller, the user can identify areas in the system where energy can be saved. Sometimes these fixes can be minor tweaks or adjustments in the system that can result in significant cost savings. The manufacturer of these controllers off ers a range of products to be used for temperature, humidity, pressure, energy, solar heating, etc. The company has presence in over 54 countries across 5 continents. Its product range complies with international standards and carries certifications such as UL, CE, NSF, ISO 9001 and ISO 14001. This controller protects the compressor and other induction motors from voltage imbalances and holds valuable data, in its built-in data logger, of the last 71 days with a time and date stamp. This allows the user to identify the root cause of equipment failure in the event of any warranty disputes.

These controllers are equipped with Bluetooth Smart® and iBeacon® capabilities to allow communication with a nearby portable electronic device such as a smartphone. Its SCS Connect System suite off ers extensive cooler and fleet management capability, including asset tracking, sales statistics gathering, HACCP data logging, smart  maintenance and diagnostics. These controllers also feature iBeacon® capability for instore marketing. Unlike off - the-shelf iBeacons, these built-in beacons have no batteries to run down, will not go missing, and can interact with the customer via the cooler itself.

Energy Efficiency and IAQ
Products described below, now available in India, have intrinsically improved designs that offer better performance and therefore increased energy and cost savings. These refrigerant-to-liquid heat exchangers are constructed using circular layers of helically corrugated tubes placed inside a compact shell. The enhanced surface of the copper or cupro-nickel tube provides surface extension of 3.7 times that of smooth tubing. The conical, coaxial design of the water coils produces a turbulent flow where the desired feature of fluctuating velocities is achieved even at low water flow rates. This haphazard movement of fluid particles reduces deposit buildup by performing a ‘scoop and lift’ action.

These heat exchangers are suitable for installation of 2-120 ton applications whenever high heat transfer rates, compact design, low water flow rate, low approach temperature and low maintenance costs are high priorities in any refrigerantto- liquid condenser, evaporator or bidirectional heat pump applications. All models are UL® listed and tested at 660 psig pressure. The co-axial tube-in-tube heat exchanger consists of longitudinal, spirally wound applied fi ns solder-bonded to the inner tube with an outer tube serving as a shell. These heat exchangers are available in single wall or double wall vented designs that prevent cross contamination of fluid streams if there is an internal leak within the unit. In the event of a leak, water or refrigerant will flow into the air gap and escape out of the heat exchanger. All heat exchangers are UL listed for high pressure refrigerants, and are available in 1/3-10 ton models in copper, cupro nickel, stainless steel or titanium. These motors are designed to run 4.5dBA quieter than competing motors and can handle severe refrigeration applications with IP67 environmental protection and over-temperature ‘foldback’ capability that maintains airflow even in extreme conditions. The ECM motors are ATEX compliant for use with hydrocarbon refrigerants and are suitable for use with most axial fans from 125-220mm (5”-8.75”) and tangential fans up to 300mm.

Indoor Air Quality
A recent focus area has been the air in our AC ducts. A major factor that results in deteriorating air quality is mold growth in the ducts. The water-based RS100 sealants are
specially formulated to provide a microbial resistant sealant coating for the inside of the HVAC ducts. RS-100 seals the air leaks in new or old ducts to SMACNA Seal Class
A 10“ wg pressure and provides a surface that is resistant to mold and bacteria growth.
