REFCOLD Emerson Awards

REFCOLD India Emerson Awards have been instituted to recognise and felicitate innovative and outstanding energy efficient projects and products in the cold chain and refrigeration space. There are six categories of awards. The maiden awards ceremony was held on the opening day of REFCOLD 2018 on November 22, during a dazzling evening that celebrated the spirit of the industry. The venue was Hall 2 of the Convention Centre, packed to capacity with delegates. There was excitement in the air as the nominees waited for the results to be announced. The ceremony, which was streamed live on social media,
was punctuated by dance acts on themes relevant to the theme of sustainability.

Pankaj Dharkar set the tone for the evening by welcoming the delegates and thanking the Host Commi t tee, Chapter Presidents, National Steering Committee Chair Vishal Kapur and others for the resounding success of REFCOLD, which turned out to be the largest event of the refrigeration and cold chain industry from its very first edition. He thanked Emerson for hosting the Awards and agreeing to continue its association next year. He highlighted the revolutionary role of cold chain in reducing agriwastage in the country, as well as in the mission to double farmers’ incomes. ISHRAE National President C. Subramaniam, in his address to the audience, explained the need for the Society to organise REFCOLD, an event dedicated to the refrigeration and  cold chain industry. Shirish Adi (Managing Director, India – Emerson Commercial and Residential Solutions) dwelled on the need for a robust cold chain in India, and Emerson’s role in its development. He thanked the Jury for painstakingly going through the nominations and selecting the awardees. The Jury for the awards was headed by Pawanexh Kohli (CEO and Advisor, National Centre for Coldchain Development), and included C. Subramaniam, B. B. Kale (Head, Product & Marketing, Emerson’s Commercial & Residential Solutions Business), Sonia Prasher (MD – NürnbergMesse India), Dilip Sarda and Sushil Choudhury. They were aided by a Technical Committee comprising M. S. Manjunath, Ramesh Paranjpey and Harshal Surange. The anchor for the entire exercise was K. Ramachandran. Members of the Jury and Technical Committee were felicitated by Pankaj Dharkar, Vishal Kapur, ISHRAE Presidentelect Vikram Murthy and C. Subramaniam.
The Re f r i g e ration Handbook published by ISHRAE was released on this occasion.


K. Ramachandran explained the Awards process to the gathering. This was followed by the much-awaited presentation of awards. The following awards were presented: After the presentation of awards, Pankaj Dharkar introduced members of the team that had worked tirelessly for the success of REFCOLD India 2018. G. Anand Kumar, Chair – REFCOLD India 2019 announced that the next edition of the event will be held at Hitech City, Hyderabad from November 21 to 23, 2019, with the theme ‘Refrigeration and Cold Chain Solutions for Life’. He invited his team on the dais and launched the event by releasing its brochure.
