Toro Launches SpaceCool
28 July 2019

SpaceCool, launched by Toro Watt India at the International Energy Service Conclave 2019, is a standalone packaged air conditioner for the two main climate zones in India: hot and humid, and hot and dry. It is a spot cooling solution focused on localized cooling. The SpaceCool inverter air conditioner works on Dual Path Technology. It uses a heat recovery recuperator for lowering the temperature and a variable speed compressor for controlling the humidity in the space.

The inverter is used only during the monsoon. This variable speed compressor does not switch on and off, unlike regular air conditioners. Instead, depending on the heat and moisture load of the room, it varies its speed and achieves the desired temperature and humidity with lower power consumption. During high temperature and low humidity, i.e. in the summer season, the heat recovery recuperator can cool the air for spot cooling without the use of compressor for cooling. This process uses a small quantity of water to achieve the cooling. During low temperature winter season, the inverter unit works as a heat pump to heat the air for indoor comfort. This process saves 70% energy compared to the electrical heating commonly used in India during winters.
