Voltas to expand durables portfolio, hike AC prices

Following its turnaround to become the No. 1 AC player in India, Tata group firm Voltas is mulling over expanding into other product categories like electronics and consumer durables. It has entrusted another group arm Tata Strategic Management Group to carry out a study . “We are planning to go for brand extension into other product categories like electronics and consumer durables. The result of the study is likely to be placed before the Voltas board in 2015,“ Pradeep Bakshi, president and COO of unitary products group of the company, said. The company has also pointed at a price hike of ACs by mid-February this year. (Source: Times of India, Mumbai, 3 January 2015)
